A nationally recognised Level 3 qualification for Teaching Assistants and Learning Support staff. Flexible online study with tutor support, workplace evidence, and all resources included. Ideal for those starting or progressing a career in schools.
The Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (RQF) is a nationally recognised qualification designed for those working or preparing to work in classroom support roles. It develops the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to support children and young people’s learning, wellbeing, and development in a modern school environment. This qualification is suitable for Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, SEN support staff, and anyone looking to begin a career in education.
The course is delivered fully online through Future Step Education’s learning platform, giving you the flexibility to study around work and family commitments. You will be guided through each unit with structured content, assessment support, and regular tutor feedback. The qualification covers key areas such as safeguarding, behaviour support, communication, equality and diversity, child development, and effective practice in the classroom. You will also complete workplace-based tasks that allow you to apply your learning directly to real school settings.
A school placement is required for the practical components of the qualification. If you do not currently have a placement, we can provide advice on how to secure one. Most learners complete the qualification within three to six months, depending on their weekly study time and access to classroom activities.
This course includes full access to all learning materials, professional templates for gathering evidence, tutor support, and online community access. There are no exams; assessment is completed through written tasks, observations, and professional discussions.
Completing this qualification provides a strong foundation for progressing within a support role or moving on to further study such as the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training or specialist SEN qualifications.
