Our story
CARLY COOPER
CO-FOUNDER
Future Step Education was founded in 2016 by Stuart Lenton, and his partner Carly.
Stuart has worked in education for over 13 years, although coming into the profession almost by accident! His journey started at a professional football club, where he was asked to teach the club’s youth team football scholars the education side of their development programmes. Stuart quickly discovered a passion for teaching and helping people grow, which led to a career in education and leadership training.
He went on to work in some of the UK’s leading colleges and learning institutions, achieving Ofsted Outstanding grades on two occasions and developing a strong passion for supporting both learners and professionals in their development.
Carly was an experienced hairdressing teacher at North Kent College in Dartford, Kent, equally passionate about education and helping learners thrive. She was also graded as Outstanding by Ofsted on multiple occasions.
Both Stuart and Carly have experienced the worst side of the training industry: poor-quality providers, being scammed by companies that liquidated before qualifications were completed, and both knew learners and professionals deserved far better.
They founded Future Step Education to be different, to offer real value, expert-led training, and a service that both educators and leaders could truly trust. From day one, the mission was to build a company based on Knowledge, Trust, and Support, standing proudly apart from the “cowboys” in the market.
In 2019, Carly sadly passed away from a brain tumour. Her passion for education and her belief in people continues to inspire everything we do at Future Step Education. In her memory, we donate £5 from every course purchased to The Brain Tumour Charity, supporting vital research and care.
Today, Future Step Education continues to grow, supporting educators, leaders, and managers across the UK and beyond with flexible, accessible, and engaging training. The values of Knowledge, Trust, and Support remain at the heart of everything we do, and always will be.

Meet the founder
Our founder Stuart Lenton is an education and leadership specialist with over 13 years’ experience in teaching, coaching, and professional development.
Having personally experienced poor and unethical training providers, I am fiercely committed to offering a genuine, high-value service that professionals can rely on. Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of helping over 1,700 learners gain recognised qualifications and take the next steps in their professional journeys.
