The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is nationally accredited, it is an ideal introduction for anyone wanting to work and teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training provides an introduction to teaching and the skills and knowledge required to work in education and training. It will help you understand the roles and responsibilities of a teacher, and how to plan and deliver lessons, assess learners, and provide feedback.

Standard – Our standard pathway is perfect for those wanting a more self-paced study programme without the commitment to scheduled assignment hand-in dates. You will be allocated a personal tutor who will contact you to arrange an onboarding call following your course purchase. They will then be available to you throughout your study programme whenever you need them
Fast track – If you need to complete your course and gain your qualification as soon as possible, then our fast-track option offers you the opportunity to do just that. Following your course purchase you will be allocated a tutor who will make contact to arrange an onboarding call. You will then, between you, devise an assessment plan and clearly outline your assignment submission dates. You will have scheduled appointments with your tutor throughout your course to ensure you have a clear guidance and support pathway. Your tutor will be available to you via phone and email whenever you need them.

This aet course is designed for both the private training industry and post 16 educational institutes; the course covers the generic teaching skills required to become an effective teacher/trainer.
Potential progression routes include the Level 4 Certificate in Education & Training (CTLLS) or the Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training (DTLLS).

This is the course for you – it’s perfect for people who are already teaching and looking to gain a nationally recognised teaching qualification for their career development.
How will i be assessed?
Assessment is through both assignment coursework and practical assessment.
You will perform a Micro Teach session, fully supported by your tutor throughout the planning and delivery of this process. You will draw up a lesson plan and use Zoom/Skype or similar to demonstrate a 15-minute teaching session. You will also participate in the evaluation process of other micro-teaching sessions.

Course content
AET teaching qualification
The units will explore the key principles of teaching, and you will gain an understanding of:
- The roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
- How to use inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
- The principles and practices of assessment
- Each unit contains written assignment questions, which will become part of your portfolio.

How long will it take?
The course easily fits in around your existing commitments. The guided learning hours for this qualification are 48-61 hours. The course is completed 100% online and there are no deadlines. You complete the course at your own pace.

Focus Awards
Yes, the L3 AET is an Ofqual Regulated Qualification (RQF), fully recognised and accredited course.
This is a UK based qualification, however we have learners completing this course from many different countries. UK qualifications are sought-after internationally.
Certificate processing times can vary. We allow up to 3 weeks, however, certificates often arrive sooner than this. Future Step can provide a letter confirming completion in the meantime if required.
Yes, you will receive both a digital and hard copy of your certificate.
This course has 14 assignments of which 13 are theory based. There is no official word count but on average you can expect to have to complete approximately 3000 words across the 13 assignments.
Yes. You will be required to perform a 15-minute teaching session to complete this course. You will need to source a minimum of two learners for this session who are aged 16+. You will also need to record and send your teaching session to your tutor for assessment. Your tutor will work with you to ensure you are fully prepared to deliver your practical assessment.
Learners must be 19 years of age and have access to a minimum of two learners for the practical assessment.
